Hello Jay:
Love your music – I’m a campfire guitarist at best. Would love to learn the chords to “Lily” as I haven’t been able to find them anywhere.
My daughters (7 & 11) & I have “Lily” in our “stuck in traffic” sing along songs & it’s a hoot to hear them sing “living is easy when you live in the city of sin.” Haven’t introduced them to Chaka Khan yet – great lyrics.
If/when you find the time would much appreciate it.
Thanks for the great music.
Pete
Hey Pete. Thanks for the message my friend. Warms me up knowing about the sing-along.
Here are the chords to that song. Best to use a Capo on the 3rd fret but you can sing it with this progression in any key you like. Take care… JS
LILY
C
In the morning, I got a pretty good start
C
I’m not the best with the words but I got a big heart
C
I rolled over, luckily my jeans beside the bed
C F
I rolled back, kissed the girl on her head… Good-bye
F C F
She was only wearing a smile so I remember it was hard to say good-bye
F G F C
but I did it… oh Lily don’t cry
C
Chaka Khan filled the hallways of the casino
I made my way from the room to the camino
I’m a stranger in a strange world
This Las Vegas is a circus as I’m sure you’ve heard
F C
So good-bye to that girl in room eleven twenty five
F G F C
Good-bye… oh Lily don’t cry
F
Out the door and out in the parking lot
C
The day gets simpler, just try and get out of the hot
F
Crack the window, get out on the highway
C
Barstow in an hour then I’m on to L.A.
G
Faster then lightning, come on baby you can win
F C
Leaving is easy when you’re leaving the city of sin
C
Back home, I’ll draw a picture for yah
A backyard barbecue with a wife and a daughter
This is life in L.A. my friend and I’ll do what I want
F C
Again and again and again, cause I’m an American
G F C G F C
oh I’m sure Lily doesn’t mind… Oh until maybe next time
F C
Lily gets me on the phone, says “I don’t want to cry no more!”
F C
“I’m tired of you going back to your wife and treating me like a whore”
So I said…
G
Faster then lightning, come on baby you can win
F C
Leaving is easy when you’re leaving the city of sin
G
Faster then lightning, come on baby you can win
F C
Leaving is easy when you’re leaving the city of sin
